Aimee Gibson is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and former management consulting executive with more than 20 years of experience helping leaders grow into their next chapter of leadership. Known for her ability to connect deeply and challenge thoughtfully, Aimee is a trusted executive coach, consultant, facilitator, and speaker across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Her work spans industries and geographies, from international companies to local organizations, where she supports individual leaders and entire teams in meaningful growth and transformation.

At the heart of Aimee’s coaching is a focus on preparing leaders for greater leadership responsibility. She works extensively with family business leaders and non-family executives of family businesses, equipping them to step into new levels of clarity, courage, and effectiveness. She uses powerful assessment tools, stakeholder interviews, identity exercises, focus groups, gaming, and group discussions to unlock insight and build capacity. Drawing from adult development theory, organizational change management, and mindfulness practices she studied at The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Aimee creates the “brave spaces” leaders need to experiment, learn, and grow.

Aimee has also shared her expertise as an adjunct faculty member at both Georgetown University and American University, where she expanded the capacity within leaders through coaching, and designing and delivering master’s level consulting curriculum respectively.

As founder of BraveJoy Leadership, she helps leaders move beyond imposter syndrome and self-doubt, and instead ground themselves in self-awareness, resilience, and values-driven leadership. Her clients often describe her as both anchor and catalyst, someone who helps them trust their strengths, manage conflict with confidence, stay calm under pressure, and lead with authenticity.
When coaching current and rising generation leaders and non-family executives of family businesses, Aimee skillfully leverages her personal experience as a non-working family business leader in her own family’s business. She has experienced first-hand the unique complexities of communication, decision-making, succession planning, governance, conflict and the considerations of family needs versus business demands that family business leaders must navigate.

Through her years of coaching leaders to successfully take on greater leadership responsibilities in and outside family businesses, she has come to appreciate the great need for coaching for family business leaders. Often family business leaders are not included in a formal feedback processes like performance reviews or leadership development process so a partnership with a coach can support their continued leadership growth. Continued growth is especially important for large family business leaders as leadership turnover is complex and they often lead organizations that are critical employers in their communities.
